🥟 Homemade Dumplings (Potstickers)
🥣 Ingredients
Filling
- 1 lb ground pork (or chicken)
- 1 cup napa cabbage (finely chopped)
- 2 green onions (chopped)
- 2 cloves garlic (minced)
- 1 tsp fresh ginger (grated)
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp sesame oil
- 1 tsp rice vinegar
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
Wrappers
- 30–40 dumpling wrappers (store-bought or homemade)
Cooking
🔄 Instructions
1. Prep the Filling
- Finely chop cabbage and squeeze out excess water
- Mix with pork, green onions, garlic, ginger, soy sauce, sesame oil, vinegar, salt, and pepper
- Stir until well combined
2. Fill the Dumplings
- Place 1 wrapper in your hand
- Add ~1 tbsp filling in the center
- Dip your finger in water and wet the edges
- Fold in half and pinch to seal (pleat if you want that classic look)
3. Cook (Potsticker Style)
- Heat oil in a nonstick pan over medium heat
- Place dumplings flat-side down
- Cook 2–3 minutes until bottoms are golden
- Add water and cover immediately
- Steam for 5–6 minutes
- Remove lid and cook another 1–2 minutes to crisp bottoms again
🥢 Dipping Sauce
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp rice vinegar
- 1 tsp sesame oil
- Chili oil (optional)
💡 Tips
- Don’t overfill or they’ll burst
- Keep wrappers covered so they don’t dry out
- Freeze extras on a tray, then store in a bag (cook from frozen—just add a little more steam time)
🔄 Variations
- 🐔 Chicken dumplings: swap pork for ground chicken
- 🌱 Veggie: cabbage, mushrooms, carrots, tofu
- 🌶️ Spicy: add chili paste to the filling
- 🍤 Shrimp: mix chopped shrimp with pork or use alone
