🥃 Hickory Bourbon BBQ Sauce Recipe
Ingredients (makes ~1 1/4 cups):
- 1 cup ketchup
- 1/4 cup bourbon (or whiskey)
- 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
- 1/4 cup brown sugar (light or dark)
- 2 tbsp molasses (optional, for depth)
- 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tbsp smoked paprika (hickory flavor)
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper (optional, for heat)
- Optional: 1 tsp liquid smoke if you want extra smokiness

- Combine all ingredients in a medium saucepan over medium heat.
- Stir constantly until it starts to simmer.
- Reduce heat to low and simmer 15–20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until thickened.
- Taste and adjust:
- Sweeter: more brown sugar or honey
- Tangier: more vinegar
- Smokier: more smoked paprika or liquid smoke
